I'm more concerned about the environmental impacts than anything else TBH. The current AI boom is spurring a massive race to construct new data centers and requires far more compute power than what it is replacing, so it is if anything a job creation rather than job replacement program at present. Plenty of things that are inefficient or resource intensive are cool (like monster trucks and rocket ships), but that doesn't mean they're the best use of our time, attention, and resources.
