So far in April, Threads has averaged an estimated 28 million daily active users, so people who have opened the app at least once in a 24-hour period.
In April so far, X has averaged 22 million DAUs...
X's monthly active users in the US handily beat Threads.
I have no idea how to interpret these numbers. DAUs are higher on Threads, but MAUs are higher on Twitter?
- labrador 3y agoI think they are trying to say Threads is more popular in the world, X is more popular in the U.S.
- rsynnott 3y agoNo, both refer to US usage only. It means that, in a given month, more people use Twitter than use Threads, but in a given day, more people use Threads than use Twitter (ie. Twitter has a lot of occasional users, but Threads has more regular use). This seems fairly plausible; I've given up on Naughty Old Mr Car's Wild Ride entirely, myself, but I know quite a few people who still have an account for viewing occasional linked Twitter threads, etc, but don't really otherwise use it anymore.
- meiraleal 3y agoIt would mean that the threads users are using the app more regularly than X
- Zigurd 3y agoThis is a plausible interpretation. I probably follow a link to a tweet at least once a month, but not much more often. I use Threads almost every day. So I'm one MAU on both platforms.
