Personally if my customer was using my services to figure out the optimal time to kill someone in a way that also kills their family, and my employees were collectively protesting that, I would just decline their money.
- robertlagrant 2y agoWhy would it take your employees protesting for you to choose this?
- KenArrari 2y agoFair point. I think without the protests you could have some plausible deniability. You could even claim it was for legitimate military purposes. But after all the information that has gone around we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this software is specifically used to maximize family-deaths. I think lots of companies love money, but the only way to defend this is if you also love death.
- transformi 2y agoFortunately this is not the case here.
- KenArrari 2y agoIt's quite literally the case here. Except I left out the part where they also ask chatGPT who should they kill and it gives them recommendations based on browsing history and what group chats they're in. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/dec/01/the-gospel-how-israel-uses-ai-to-select-bombing-targets https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/dec/01/the-gospel-how...
- trvz 2y agoSarcastic thought: with Google Cloud being an order of magnitude more expensive than dedicated servers Israel will end up killing fewer people for the same money. It's not like they couldn't buy servers elsewhere, so in a twisted way this could be a humane move by Google.
- SadCordDrone 2y agoNot if the customer is killing a potential future adversary to my family or even distant relatives. Morality is a social construct. The selfish gene is a biological construct.
- KenArrari 2y agoGood thing they're also running the service that decides who to kill based on their browsing history and what group chats they're in.

- bell-cot 2y agoA nice sentiment...but obviously you have no future in Fortune 10 corporate management.
