New Data Reveals Few Community College Transfers Complete a Bachelor's Degree
- kayo_20211030 3y agoThe original report at https://ccrc.tc.columbia.edu/publications/Tracking-Transfer-Community-College-and-Four-Year-Institutional-Effectiveness-in-Broadening-Bachelors-Degree-Attainment.html https://ccrc.tc.columbia.edu/publications/Tracking-Transfer-... is interesting with some, what seem to me intuitively, good recommendations to improve the outcomes. Particularly, > Promoting associate degree completion prior to transfer, consistent with the report’s finding of a strong positive correlation with bachelor’s degree attainment; It seems that the better prepared the transfer students are, the better their outcomes. It's something that could be achieved with a firm commitment from the CC's and the people who run them to make that a goal.
- JoeAltmaier 3y agoSome blame on the CCs for being a grant-consumption mill. Then providing little student support. E.g. our local CC dropped all of their degree counselors, replaced them with a website.
