I don't get the riot act part, what does that mean exactly?
- UmYeahNo 2y agoThe vendor got yelled at / severely chastised.

- leereeves 2y agoI didn't either but I found an interesting article about it. https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/read-the-riot-act-meaning https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/read-the-riot-act-mean... According to that, the Riot Act was an English law that was actually read to protestors ordering them to stop what they were doing, and threatening that if they did not stop, they would be executed. So, metaphorically, reading someone the riot act is a threat that if the behavior continues, there will be severe consequences.
- sbstp 2y agoThanks, that clears it up!
- BlueTemplar 2y ago> The PFY was duely grabbed by the griddlins and had his futtock roasted.
