Discord CEO Jason Citron makes the case for a smaller, more private internet
- raxxorraxor 2y agoAt some point the communities will likely pay for their dependence, especially those that also use it as a host. Reddit can at least be crawled and on some topics already supplies the first sensible link among countless AI generated articles or those that could as well have been written by a bot. Discord is less anonymous than reddit and doesn't allow account switching on some devices. The app isn't safe for teens at all if you just exclude privacy. On the contrary, even if the political sentiment is different (for whole other reasons). But for that matter there is nothing hindering them to get invited to a private channel, which most people already use, and yes, that includes questionable content certainly not fit for teens.
