- ac130kz 2y agoWhich makes me wonder, it seems creating your own paid backup storage provider is still viable in 2024.
- aborsy 2y agoIt seems to be a CEO issue. Nextcloud needs to focus on a replacement of Dropbox, which is fast, easy to install, secure, bug-free, and aesthetically appealing. In order words, replace only the Dropbox, not Dropbox and Microsoft and Google and a lot of other applications.
- longitudinal93 2y agoIt's not meant to be a replacement for Dropbox but rather for Google Drive + Google Docs + Google Photos, all of which is fine by me as it's been working well for me as a replacement for all of those since 2020.
- mr_machine 2y agoYeah, I've been using it since the early days of OwnCloud, both personally and professionally. Love it and don't understand the haters at all. It's not perfect but it's really damn good -- and it's F/OSS.
- interloxia 2y agoIt's even worse by that metric in my rather disappointed experience. With Hetzner, the price is right, but I miss Dropbox.
- k4rli 2y agoNeeds a rewrite in Rust. PHP is just hopeless
- throwaway598 2y agoYou're not alone. A webapp with slow spinny widgets coupled with laggy file management. I'm sure it used to be better. I don't need a weather widget telling me what the weather's like outside in a file store and sync app.
