Ask HN: Underrated HN Posts and Comments

There are many HN posts and comments that don't seem to be deserving the attention they ought to receive. It could be a variety of factors - timing, poor articulation, expertise, HN unfavourable/misinformed etc It could be your own comments and posts as well. It would be great to look at them again with a different perspective.

I've seen lots of creative ways to build an alternate interface for Hacker News. A couple that might meet your criteria... The Hacker News second chance pool https://news.ycombinator.com/pool https://news.ycombinator.com/pool And this is a fun way to browser Hacker News showing all the posts that got at least 3 upvotes... https://news.ycombinator.com/over?points=3 https://news.ycombinator.com/over?points=3

There is currently no “perfect” recommendation system on the market. hn's algorithm can discover "useful" information with a high probability. No one can define what you consider useful information but yourself. Similarly, for content that has received a lot of attention in the past, there is no fixed standard to evaluate whether the content deserves attention again. In my opinion, hn prefers users to contribute valuable information rather than presenting all valuable information to users.

I think the HN search already meets my needs. It would be great if comments could be opened on historical excellent posts.
