I'm sure you can come up with a scenario where input does slow down (eg, in huge complex files), but speaking as someone with experience speedrunning action games which require frame-perfect (60Hz) tricks, I can't detect any noticeable lag between hitting a key and a glyph appearing on the screen in VS Code. If something's slowing it down, it's probably an autcomplete feature which can be configured to trigger less frequently.
