Smoking bans are coming: what does the evidence say?
- herniatedquale 2y agoWeird how there seems to exist simultaneous support for banning cigarettes and legalizing smoking weed. Do the same parties hold both views? Can they be reconciled?

- jkic47 2y agoI was a heavy smoker for 18 years before I quit. It has been decades since then, and I sometimes look back at myself at that age and sometimes think "what a destructive product to allow on the market given that the upsides are so little". We allow cars on the road knowing it will cost ~30K lives a year because society (at least in the US) made a decision that it is "worth it". What was the calculus that allowed us to rationalize this product?
