- pixl97 3y agoYea, it's easy to make up answers like this, but it's pretty much bs. A bigger part of the issue is almost everyone is running on the same few cloud providers so if that provider has an issue huge portions of the internet are impacted. Another side of the problem is the massive size of many of these systems attempting to serve billions of records in short periods of time in a consistent manner, this can be attributed to unqualified people, but it's not just that... The amount and number of systems doing complex things has exploded. Yea, the internet back in 1999 may not have gone down much, but mostly it was serving static pages. It wasn't trying to fill orders at 10,000 locations and keep an eye on the inventory of all these places at once. This comes back to the fact we've probably never had enough well trained, qualified people to run all the systems we're creating. Systems failures almost never boil down to one thing, but a collection of issues at the same time.
