- defrost 2y agoAlgebra and Calculus are still a standard part of the Senior secondary Mathematics subjects right across the country (Australia), just as they were 40+ years ago. Although it mostly tends to be basic algebra and not Abstract Algebra with Groups, Fields, Rings, etc unless it's a specialist high school. https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/senior-secondary-curriculum/mathematics/senior-secondary-mathematics-subjects/ https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/senior-secondary-cur... https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/curriculum/mathematics/mathematics-curriculum-resources-k-12/Mathematics-11-12-resources https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/curriculu... They're electives, chosen by High school students that intend to go to University for STEM | Law subjects, sure, but they're taught so that first year Engineers, Physics, Chem, etc. students don't have to faff about with Epsilon-delta | limits | etc type basic Calc and go straight into computations with variable mass, non linear distributions, etc.
