I have trouble understanding why the replacement will cost $400,000.
They cite that each one requires a dedicated fiber optic cable. Is there a reason they can't use wireless links?
- wglb 2y ago> The original three transmission towers were installed along Interstate 94 in 2005 and two more added for western Lake County in 2010 Just doing a back of the envelope calculation, but the east to west distance is on the order of 23 miles, and line of sight might require a very tall tower.
- RF_Enthusiast 2y agoI wonder if they could have used Part 90 VHF or HF frequencies.
- wglb 2y agoInsofar as this would require line of sight, I suspect the distances are too great without having very tall towers.
