Translation is so different from what I read years ago. I like to think of the difference between the Chinese version and the Japanese version of Joshu’s Dog koan. A monk asked Joshu, "Has the dog the Buddha nature?" Joshu replied, "Mu (nothing)!" That’s the Japanese translation. In Chinese, it’s Wu If you ask the dog: “Have you a Buddha Nature?”, the dog will reply “Wu”
