There's not any universal treatment. There does seem to be a borderline cult of personality around the guy, composed of people that more or less seem motivated to come up with a reason to excuse anything. But that isn't that big a group of people, they are just loud. There's also plenty of people that are loud because they don't like his politics/attitude.
