Current generation spends (outputs GHG), next generation pays (havoc due to changed climate). And: rich people spend, poor people pay. If anything, this would be a good reason to put younger people in politics: have long-term decisions taken by people that actually have an interest in the outcome. Having mostly greybeards in power, could well have a similar effect on policy as CEOs chasing next-quarter's profit & jump ship before shtf.
