Hackers Voice Cloned the CEO of LastPass for Attack
- smt88 3y agoI'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how voice-cloning could ever be an ethical technology to sell. Even more so than any of the other AI-imitation tools (including LLMs, which imitate human speech), its ratio of potential evil-to-good is absolutely enormously in favor of evil.
- mikece 3y agoI could see it being a boon for story telling: an actor sells their image and voice for AI storytelling and they get points on the back end for all uses of their image and voice without ever needing to read for the part, sit in a makeup chair, put up with producers and directors... As for stopping voice-clone hacking: how about an encrypted microchip in one's hand can communicate wirelessly with a biometric ID app on a phone -- and the app can read an ultraviolet QR code tattooed on one's forehead as well -- to prove the legitimacy of who is on the other end, regardless of what their voice does or does not sound like?
