Main problem with Humane Pin is that is so desperately wants to be a phone app, but Humane as a company wants to be next Apple.
Until we get to a point where the LLM can just live on the device this won't get better.
Also is it a "slam dunk" that people in general actually want to move away from UIs and towards conversation as primary interface with their devices? I for one have not a single voice assistant because I don't want to talk to my devices. I also don't want them to talk back, but instead be quiet and as non-intrusive as possible.
I am sure V2 or V3 or V10 will fix (most of) these issues, but it will be hard to get there when the V1 is objectively a bad product that has no actual use cases. Even described use of the translation to help with nurses or first responders - can one pin handle both sides of the conversation? Also are first responders really going to rely on the translation with emergency medical information?
- tosh 2y agoThe Humane pin has a visual ui that is laser projected to your hand. So they don't fully bet on audio-only, at least not in this iteration.
