Will travel 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene!
- protomolecule 3y agoHectare[0] is a measure of area, not distance [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hectare https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hectare
- avmich 3y agoThat's why it's additionally funny.
- protomolecule 3y agoI don't think it is at all funny.
- avmich 3y agoLet me explain. The Russian bureaucracy is selected by the principle of personal loyalty. At some rare points, like economy, professional competence is also required, but in many other areas - assigned governors of states in Russia, or heads of departments like defense or aerospace - it's not. Dmitry Rogozin, former head of Roscosmos, is a politician, who really didn't study engineering. Some other previous Roscosmos heads were from military. So technically they are relatively often declare ridiculous things, and mixing up units of length and area wouldn't be out of order here for them. Nevertheless Roscosmos heads are often promise unbelievable advancements in the near future, which don't materialize. Just like the Roscosmos has no current means to compete with Falcons - and for that reason alone the statement is funny - so the suggested detail is similarly senseless, but more accentuated, adding more obviously to an unsubstantiated declaration.
- protomolecule 3y agoSorry, still not funny.
- k12sosse 2y agoI owe you a beer for that one. Thanks for having my back when you didn't need to. I like your explanation. When it comes to hectares, he's forgetting our rockets can also be used to plough your field. I guess the episode did originally air 32 years ago. So I'll schlink back to my porch to shake my fist at the clouds. You gave me too much credit. https://youtu.be/07vdtBMG4Kg https://youtu.be/07vdtBMG4Kg
