We have something similar in Denmark. A government SSO. We use it for Banks, student loans, water bill/meter stuff, hospital and doctor bookings, taxes ..and probably more. It's pretty neat. If you switch bank you still use the same login. Makes it also easier for elderly / not so technological proficient people. Not sure how I feel about using it as age restrictions on private websites. I don't think DK is doing that yet.
