Would "Ejection" from a much slower aircraft require a rocket motor that has a 50% chance of spinal damage?

- Teever 3y agoCan you explain why an equally damaging ejection system is needed for a jet fighter and a personal flying car type aircraft?
- throwup238 3y agoBecause that rate of injury is for trained Air Force pilots in peak physical condition. Once you start ejecting the untrained average people with BMI of 25+ you’re going to need bigger propulsion and they’re going to get injured. The human body simply isn’t made to withstand force.
- Teever 3y agoHow many Gs are we talking? people with a BMI of over 25 seem quite fine on rollercoasters.
- throwup238 3y ago12-20 g. Some of the more intense ejection seats in fighter jets are 25+ g. Most rollcoasters are under 4g and they max out around 6g.
- Teever 3y agoCan you show me your math that says we need 12-20g for an ejector seat on a consumer flying car?
