Aren't passkeys ready for prime time yet?
- shepherdjerred 2y agoYup! There's a directory of sites with support here: https://passkeys.directory/ https://passkeys.directory/ I use it for ~50 sites. It's such a pleasure to use.
- 0cf8612b2e1e 2y agoNot until I can backup a passkey without Apple or Google acting as the steward. I need a system where I know that if my phone is lost, I can restart my digital identity without a tech giant.
- rootusrootus 2y ago1Password does passkeys, and they exist on multiple platforms. I assume they are not the only non-Apple/Google password app which can do this.
- renewiltord 2y agoI have mine in Bitwarden but I didn't think carefully through this, I just used what I had. It looks like Vaultwarden hasn't yet added support so you can't rehost without Bitwarden but you don't need Apple or Google.

- compootr 2y agoI believe bitwarden does this too, but I stick to yubikeys
- recursive 2y agoI'm not touching it unless I have a way to export my passkeys and migrate them wherever I want.
