The author deals too much in absolutes. Generative AI is a miracle that we’re already desensitized to. Use it for what it’s good for. There are lots of things. That said, the whole enshittifiation paradigm is 100% the Zeitgeist right now and it’s happening across the board. I’m personally feeling increasingly negative about companies like Google and Apple whose products and services I have loved for decades. It does feel like a mass betrayal of user trust / race to the bottom is happening across the board.
