The manual release latch does always work. TBH, they should be clearer that opening the door is ok, but I get why it is somewhat of a challenge. Parts of the update may trigger window recalibration, and that isn't really intended to be done with the door opening or closing at the time. They should inform the user to get themselves and anything needed out. There really won't be a solution for unreasonable people who refuse to do so at that point.
