I like having my system boot faster because systemd takes care of lazily mounting my hard drives in the background.
- generalizations 2y agoIronically, boot times is one place where these days systemd lags sadly behind. At least in my experience (Rocky/Redhat, Void, Ubuntu, Alpine).
- constantcrying 2y agoMy openrc based system boots in seconds, I don't think I ever noticed a performance difference to systemd. Also, any init system can do lazy mounting without having the fstab file becoming a farce.
