Not in SF (or even the USA), but the size of the vehicle, and whether it would fit down the driveway and into the garage of my parent's 1970s house was one of the two deciding factors in buying a BYD Dolphin (the other was price of course, which was somewhat flexible, unlike the width of the driveway/garage). The width requirement severely limited their options. Car manufacturers need to make the cars we want, and stop whinging about needing protection from Chinese automakers.
