Didnt the ai have a bit of an ulterior motive in that series in that they needed ever changing/renewing humns to keep them from retreating into their own though

Didnt the ai have a bit of an ulterior motive in that series in that they needed ever changing/renewing humns to keep them from retreating into their own thoughts and going insane? It seemed a lot more l*ke all but a couple handfuls of humans who could still do something better than the ais were basically pets with a really nice pet ownership/care agreement...
