The Heart of Low
- UncleOxidant 3y agoCool to see Low making the front page of HN. I'd never heard of them until Rick Beato did a "best band you've never heard of" video tribute around the time Mimi Parker died. Was just blown away by their music and wondered why I never heard of them before. I generally don't buy albums anymore, but I bought several of theirs.
- _m_p 3y agoI have really enjoyed seeing the Low record example in Django REST Framework documentation: https://www.django-rest-framework.org/api-guide/relations/#stringrelatedfield https://www.django-rest-framework.org/api-guide/relations/#s...

- rsanheim 3y agoTruly an amazing band, hearing about Parker's death hit me hard. I've been a fan for over 20 years. Here's the Rick Beato video mentioned elsewhere which is a nice listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Mj4Nv_ip0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Mj4Nv_ip0. One of my favorites is _Over the Ocean_, from their '96 album The Curtain Hits the Cast. Simple and staggeringly beautiful - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_3q0_m7JCY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_3q0_m7JCY
- UncleOxidant 3y agoThey have so many great songs. That's what I find so compelling about Low. Usually on an album I take a liking to 1 or 2 songs and the rest are kind of meh. With a Low album it's kind of the other way around. There might be 2 'meh' songs on an album and the rest are just amazing. Here's another really good one of their first album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaSVkb_XLt4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaSVkb_XLt4 (Lullaby) (wish those first couple of albums were still available)
- biggestlou 3y agoAmazing band. Still heartbroken by the loss of Mimi. Their version of Little Drummer Boy is my favorite ever Christmas song and it’s not even close.
- prpl 3y agoSaw them live a few times, the time after great destroyer came out was amazing. I used to listen to Secret Name to go to sleep. First time I saw Alan was actually Retribution Gospel choir.
- Lewton 3y agoOne of my all-time favorite live bands (Along with GY!BE). When you listen to HEY WHAT, you really wonder how it could ever work live. But seeing them on the tour, they somehow managed to make the recording pale in comparison.
