- ggm 3y agoMost of these economic revenge ideas turn out to be massively counter productive. It's fine to have strategic goals in manufacturing and automotive construction is one area you need as a local supply chain in times of war, but demanding only onshore construction begs questions about US commitment to the TPP, and other bilateral/multilateral agreements. Maybe the Chinese EV are worth having? What if the Ohian has rocks in his head? What if for instance, they were a co production or if there was some diversity in the market? "We actually aren't always at war with East asia" as Orwell probably should have said.
