- mikepurvis 3y agoThis is fantastic news. I've been thinking of upgrading my old Kindle to a Kobo model— I like the physical page turn buttons and I think would make a lot of use of the native support for Libby/Overdrive. But yeah, this really seals the deal in terms of which ecosystem I'd rather be investing in going forward.
- mingus88 3y agoLibby integration has been fantastic for me. Check out library books directly to your e-reader? Yes please I have had a kobo reader for a few months now after four kindle models. I don’t see myself going back.
- mikepurvis 3y agoYeah I'm really looking forward to that; I do the Adobe digital editions -> Calibre dance but it's basically just piracy at that point and super inconvenient to boot.
- kerkeslager 3y agoHappy Kobo user here. I was able to load up all my books from Calibri with zero friction. I've never bought from the Kobo store and it has never caused me any problems. Very user friendly compared to Amazon's ecosystem, which has literally deleted purchased books off users' devices[1]. - blairbeckwith 3y agoIs there a good way to read your own books that you load yourself, across mobile (iOS specifically) and the Kobo hardware? That has always been what's kept me tied to Kindle. The iOS app isn't great, but the "email to Kindle" feature at least lets me send my own ePubs and keep them synced across both pieces of hardware.
- kerkeslager 3y agoIf you can put it into epub or PDF you can upload it as a file to the Kobo pretty easily. It's perhaps not as easy as "email to Kindle" admittedly, but I care about file ownership.
- kaanyalova 3y agoYou can simply use this website to send yourself books using the web browser on the kobo https://send.djazz.se/ https://send.djazz.se/ Or you can host your own "Kobo store" using calibre web and use that to sync your books https://github.com/janeczku/calibre-web/wiki/Kobo-Integration https://github.com/janeczku/calibre-web/wiki/Kobo-Integratio...
- hyperman1 3y agoA few years ago I replaced the battery on my kobo, and it was really easy. I got about 10 years of use out of it.
