How does that skewer anything? Most people have Chrome running in the background behind their games too, maybe one or two apps like G-hub or Razer(whatever they call theirs), one to several apps like steam/origin/epic games, etc.. This clearly isn't a relevant argument to normal users, or to serious/professional gamers.
