Texas Legalizes Kei Trucks
- deleted 3y ago[deleted]
- throwiforgtnlzy 3y agoStanford, for many years, was allowed to run a similar brand of narrow width imported trucks that fit between bollards around campus because they are/were their own municipality (and own ZIP code) on their own property. As such, I don't think they had State of CA license plates, had to pass Smog Check emissions tests, or had any sort of formal homologation. In general, accepting random vehicles without proper homologation review by the DOT is an unwise and dangerous process. On the other hand, small and limited use vehicles for explicit use not on public roadways should also be possible.
- ohazi 3y agoSimilarly, a lot of these trucks seem to have "farm use only" plates.
- xnx 3y agoWeird that Kei trucks would not be allowed when motorcycles are.
- harambae 3y agoI imagine it has to do with the number of interested people and their level of coordination and civic involvement. I see a couple Kei truck groups on Facebook, but I don't see it comparing to the American Motorcycle Association. Kind of like that meme that Kinder eggs were illegal but not AR-style rifles... well, how many people are petitioning and donating money for Kinder egg legality.
