  I prefer keeping the javascript surface area minimal. I can definitely see this as a footgun that newer programmers will use to mess up JS codebases with spaghetti of weird effects linked together

    Ah, since then it seems to have graduated to a Stage 1 proposal and was moved to the tc39 GitHub org.

  What is with people writing purposely flawed examples? If you want to convince a general audience that your approach is worth the additional cognitive overhead then compare it with code that is equivalently robust, not some low effort straw-man example.
