I'm not sure I buy this progressive narrative, but i for damn sure don't expect anything from my employer that isn't legally obligated. Anyway, corporations still engage in slavery with open endorsement from major powers including the US: they just launder it through supply chains that are broadly outside the reach of states with leverage over them. See eg the supreme court's repeated endorsement of slave labor outside the US (thank you Nestle & Neal Katyal).
