Elon Musk: AI will be smarter than any human around the end of next year
- FrankWilhoit 3y agoHe means it will be smarter than Elon Musk. And maybe that is not such a great stretch, at that.

- labrador 3y agoHe's not an AI expert so I'm going to need a citation
- mikhailfranco 3y agoI guess Tesla is one of the top 5 AI companies in the world, in blended terms of compute, data, experience and deployed systems. They are probably in the Top 2 for total data capture in the real world (only Google StreetView+YouTube might be bigger). Tesla is concerned with sensor-AI-actuator systems, which will be the heart of any agentic AI. And it is life-and-death in real time. They are not surviving on a couple of grad students with cute prompts to answer homework assignments.
- labrador 3y agoA self-driving car is not an AGI and I doubt we'd want it to be one
- mikhailfranco 3y agoThe headline said 'AI'. The article said 'AI', and went on to say "there's no broad consensus ... on the exact definition of AGI." You said 'AI'. But I also forgot to mention that: - Tesla has large-scale deployment of industrial robots; - Tesla has R&D for humanoid robots; - X/Twitter has the Grok LLM chatbot; - Musk co-founded/funded OpenAI. So even if you don't agree with him, he is in a good position to evaluate current efforts across the board. You and the other posts here, just dismissed the article with flippant reddit snark, probably because you don't like Elon or his politics.
- labrador 3y agoI haven't read the other comments or speak for any group. Musk says a lot of things that turn out not to be true. I don't trust him. I would trust him more if he told us where he gets his informatino. Also, if an AI smarter than any human is not an AGI then what is it? Humans are the gold standard AGI or am I wrong?
- palata 3y agoHe says so many things... can't we just stop caring?
