The Moon needs two sets of timezones:
The first set is a universal Lunar time like the Earth's UTC. The same time all over the Moon, and sounds much like what NASA is planning on.
But the next set are the local timezones, probably this could be one Lunar-Hour per every 1 degree of Lunar Rotation. At 360 degrees, that would be roughly 2 Earth hours to every Lunar-Hour. Then again, if we made each Lunar timezone equal to 0.5 degrees of rotation, the Lunar-Hour would be similar to an Earth hour: 28 days = 672 Earth hours = 40320 minutes. Divide that by 720 (360 degrees x 2) and we get about 56 Earth minutes to the Lunar Hour.
We could have a niche market for Lunar-Time watches! I believe the guys who work on the Mars Rovers have watches of some type syncronised to the Martian Sols already.
