I'm all for the Saw Stop, and I wouldn't use a table saw without one. (I prefer not to use table saws at all now!) However, I'm pretty sure than the vast majority of the pressure to mandate the "Saw Stop" comes from the "Saw Stop" corporation, who hold exclusive rights.
