- toomuchtodo 3y agoAlready did an acquihire dry run. If it comes to this, it'll be some paperwork while OpenAI gets absorbed into MS and copyright holders fight a $3.15T corporation. gl;hf with that.
- cdchn 3y agoAll Copyright Holders For Every Medium vs. Mega-est of MegaCorps? Forget Wrestlemania, I'd pay-per-view that match.
- dartos 3y agoTbf 3.15T in market cap, not buying power. A few heavyweight copyright holders like Sony, fox, wb, and Disney could put up a good fight.

- chasd00 3y agothe entire US Justice Department fought Microsoft to basically a draw. Good luck copyright holders, i'm rooting for ya.
- dragonwriter 3y agoNot sure Microsoft can get more favorable leadership elected at all of the copyright holders the way it managed to do with the US government at just the right time for the antitrust case.
- toomuchtodo 3y agoMicrosoft lobbying and running pols aligned with copyright reform to protect their GenAI interests was not on my 2020s bingo card, but would be welcome if that's what it takes.
- singleshot_ 3y agoDo you figure the lawyers at the Justice Department get bonuses if they win big cases? If not, the incentives in play make this a different circumstance entirely.
- singleshot_ 3y agoGenerally, the depth of an entity’s pockets attracts civil action instead of discouraging it.
