I dunno, I think we're still in a zone where Amtrak derailments have killed more people in the last decade than domestic aviation issues, and that's even before you account for the fact that there's probably multiple magnitudes more passenger/miles by plane than train. I definitely prefer the experience of rail travel - boarding and riding though.
