Another thing to consider is that this type of AI will almost certainly desire to work/be useful as a result of its "fitness function". The fitness function for humans is reproduction and survival of the species, but for AI it will more likely be usefulness for work. Ie an AI that performs better at work ('likes work') is more likely to continue being developed.
