This is actually proof the free market works. It is not economical to produce chips in the US. But it is strategically important. So the government is stepping in to provide an incentive that makes it economical.
Whether you agree with the strategic importance is a different story.
- cleansy 3y agoGenerally state intervention is not what you call a "free" market. But it's the sovereign task of a state to secure strategic resources for its citizens. Free market is overrated. Edit: overrated when we talk about cornered resources.
