Show HN: Finboard – An Affordable Financial Database
I've developed a web app that organizes financial statements from SEC.
There are similar products on the Internet, but all of them I found just "abstracts" raw information into something.
For example, typical website has "Revenue" as a top-line metrics. In reality, that can be "Total Revenue", "Net Sales", "Operating Revenue", and so on. Those website can't cover exceptional values in same reason.
I believe serious investors need raw financial statements aggregated because each number reflect the companies' financial performance. Major platforms like Bloomberg does that but too expensive for individuals.
That's why I've built "Finboard". You can see the aggregated financial statements like this: https://finboard.net/companies/TSLA/income-statement https://finboard.net/companies/TSLA/income-statement
The idea also came from "Notion". Notion is a great tool with infinite use cases. I thought it would be great if we can have financial data in a text editor. So I've decided to build Editor & Database platform.
Currently the“Card view”is the most powerful feature. You can screen a company lists (such as all US listed companies), and the result can show financial performance and/or stock price chart like this: https://finboard.net/view/sec?view=a037684a58c448a590e3d3ec5b6ec957 https://finboard.net/view/sec?view=a037684a58c448a590e3d3ec5...
You may also find it useful that Japanese companies’ financial information is also available in English on Finboard.
The tech stack is: Next.js with TypeScript on Vercel and MongoDB Atlas.
Open to any questions or feedback. Hope you might find it interesting!
- ohans 3y agoWhile I haven't given it a deep look, a free trial without CC details would have been nice! Regardless, building such a rich (Notion style) text editor isn't trivial. So, cheers to that.
- zoetin45 3y agoHi ohans, thanks for your kind comment! I've released the website in Japan (which is my home country) earlier, so removing the registration process is bit tricky. However, you can try major features such as card view or company page. Happy to hear some feedback for that as well ;) Card view example: https://finboard.net/view/sec?view=a037684a58c448a590e3d3ec5b6ec957 https://finboard.net/view/sec?view=a037684a58c448a590e3d3ec5... Company page example: https://finboard.net/companies/TSLA https://finboard.net/companies/TSLA
- ohans 3y agoNo qualms re: removing registration. I understand! Thanks for the examples, gonna take a look!
- datascienced 3y agoFor $5 a month put $15 a month crossed out with $5 (66% discount for the next X days and hours) Cheesy, but that’s the way it is :-)
