I have tried this with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, a GoPro Hero 10, and an iPhone XS Max. 1. It doesn’t work. 2. It doesn’t damage your phone camera. Best option is to get eclipse viewing glasses or film. Second best option is to make a pinhole projector, which work surprisingly well.
