Got a friend who has been an early Tesla booster. He has managed to receive early betas of the software. He made a statement to us that Tesla had finally achieved fully autonomous driving. I was a bit skeptical but he said wait and see, its happening this year.
Now with this announcement I concede that he may have seen the future. Course with Musk's record of delivery it may well be 2025 before we see full remote driving but that's still better than the SF zeitgeist thinks it will happen.
- akerl_ 3y agoIs this just rage bait? He made the same announcement about robotaxis back in like 2020.
- blowsand 3y agoHave a link to that 2020 robotaxi unveiling announcement by chance?
- bonniemuffin 3y agoHere's a reference to Musk in 2019 saying that he would release robotaxis in 2020. "Musk pitched the robo-taxis as a way for Tesla owners to make money when they aren’t using their vehicles." https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/22/tech/tesla-robotaxis/index.html https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/22/tech/tesla-robotaxis/inde...

- xenospn 3y agoI doubt your friend is anything more than a wishful thinker.
- enslavedrobot 3y agoMy wife usually never uses FSD. Last night she casually mentioned it drove her home from her Mom's house (35 minutes) with no interventions. As with all tech it's vapourware until it isn't.
