It's his name. Which other name should they have used?
- umeshunni 2y agoThe usual formula for clickbait articles like this is to just say "He was a Google engineer. He was also a prolific thief" so that you don't get any information from the headline. In this case, the editor has made an explicit decision to use his name to maximize outrage.
- djmips 2y agoIt does play on racial stereotypes where one would think it's more likely that if someone is stealing IP for China they have a Chinese name but I'm sure that's not always true.
- wolverine876 2y agoIs there any evidence for the 'usual formula' or the editor's reasoning? It seems that the parent comment is written to maximize outrage.
- justinclift 2y agoWouldn't US clickbait articles generally include the skin colour of the person instead?
