This is certainly true, but one thing I've found a pain in the ass is that every era has a texturing technique that nobody in the future can figure out. My house now has a knockdown texture, and I've had four people(including myself and 3 pros) try to match it and fail. So while accessing the plumbing in the wall is super easy, you can also easily tell someone accessed the plumbing in the walls.
