- sophacles 3y agoPeople go entire lifetimes not wearing seatbelts and die to old age rather than car crashes. This doesn't change the fact that fewer people die in car crashes when they wear seatbelts. Your relationship with cavities doesn't change anything about the statistics of cavities with and without flouride in people's diet.
- zoklet-enjoyer 3y agoMy cavity free mouth doesn't need fluoride and I don't want it in my water

- sophacles 3y agoWait... Is your mouth cavity free, or did you get your first one 7 years ago? I was merely pointing out that your anecdote is already part of the statistical evidence and not particularly useful to a discussion of whether it should be added to water "I don't want it in my water" is actually a better and more relevant thing to say. As irrational as they are, peoples comfort levels, personal beliefs, and fears are rational to consider for policy decisions. (All people have irrational beliefs , fears, etc - its just a fact of people).
- zoklet-enjoyer 3y agoIt's been cavity free for 36 years minus a month in 2017
- xk_id 3y agoI've taken fluoride supplements as a child and I've never had a cavity in my entire life. So with n=2, the evidence is overwhelmingly in favour of fluoride.
