Is Remarkable 2 decent for someone mainly interested in reading, and not in writing? Remarkable 1 was only so so in that area.

- paulcole 3y agoRemarkable 2 is good enough for technical PDFs but is definitely not as good as the scribe head-to-head as a book reading device. But if a person insists on something “hackable” (god knows why) then the Remarkable is the better choice.
- 1attice 3y agobecause koreader on a Remarkable 2 is really good, actually, and is probably not feeding my reading list into a marketing profile which may be purchased or subpoenaed at any time by an increasingly dystopian police state? Whereas a Kindle Scribe most definitely is? Books about abortion, say, or being a queer teenager?
- paulcole 3y agoRight, like I said, if you have some ideological issue with the Scribe/Amazon, you’re going to be happier w/ the Remarkable. If you hate subscriptions, you’re going to find a reason to be mad about the Remarkable. I own both Scribe and Remarkable 2. You couldn’t pay me to take notes on the Scribe or read ebooks on the Remarkable.
- breezylex 3y agoI have a Remarkable 2 and I would say is not that good at reading PDF documents or ebook files (mobi, & epub). Very slow at loading documents and moving forth and back between pages is worse when compared to a Kindle. Remarkable 2 strength is mainly focus on creating notes to read.
- konradb 3y agoI had a remarkable 1 that I used primarily to read epub/pdf and my enduring memory was how slow it was to wsitch pages. Realise this is mostly a hardware limitation of the screen, but I found it frustrating. With some sadness I went to an iPad pro 12.9 which was very fast to switch pages, and I don't have that same sense of frustration.
