- Rinzler89 2y agoFor anyone wondering, this is a go at "The Incredible Machine" game series that was popular 20-30 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Machine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Machine
- RGamma 2y agoAlso, I enjoyed the similar Crazy Machines, that has more modern versions available: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Machines https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Machines
- OscarCunningham 2y agoLooks like the page was renamed to just 'Machine'. I don't know why that would be. Surely not a copyright issue?
- em-bee 2y agodoesn't look like it to me. where do you see that?
- OscarCunningham 2y agoWhere the comic title usually is, avove the top 'Random' button. It just say 'Machine'.
- em-bee 2y agooh, i was looking somewhere completely different. to embarrassed to say where ;-)
- em-bee 2y agomore details can be found here: https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/2916:_Machine https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/2916:_Machine
- araes 2y agoAppears to time release additional parts to use. Good Job trophy and cup as interactive objects, with rabbit and cat as decoration (although they do hide objects). Been interesting to see the technique development over the release. People discovering jammed pipes and item combinations with some pretty clear progression of ideas among designs. One halfpipe, and then a bunch of loopdy-loops. If Munroe, Goodhart, davean et. al. read this, one cool addition would be object hard points on other objects for attachments. Like a steering wheel with rotating repulsors. Fan speed adjustment would also be nice like the repulsor strength.
- djmips 2y agoThis was writen in Rust?
- nextaccountic 2y agoOk, so this uses https://rapier.rs/ https://rapier.rs/ which is very cool Rapier, alongside https://nalgebra.org/ https://nalgebra.org/ (which it uses underneath) has seriously good documentation and some advanced features like cross-platform determinism (something made hard by the way floating point differs between platforms)
- yashg 2y agoAs usual, I am too dumb to understand this.
- fragmede 2y agothe balls go in and want to go out. top right there is a wrench icon. click that and gain access to some tools, with which you can guide the green and blue balls into their respective destinations. how fanciful the machine to guide the balls is up to you.
- meta-level 2y agoYou forgot to mention that each level is part of a colaboratively built machine
