Show HN: Kiwi – End-to-End Kafka Subscriptions with WebAssembly
Hey HN!
I'm excited to announce the release of Kiwi v0.1.1. I started working on Kiwi a few months ago with the primary motivation of providing an extensible WebSocket adapter that allows client applications to securely subscribe to real-time data sources such as Kafka.
Often times, there is a desire to extend the real-time data that flows through sources like Kafka to end users in a fast and secure manner. Rather than standing up custom solutions, Kiwi lets operators focus on writing business logic, by loading custom WASM plugins that handle tasks like authorization and event filtering per client.
There is a lot more information in the README. Any feedback would be much appreciated :)
Thanks!
- slyall 2y agoThere is already something called Kiwi in the Kafka space. https://github.com/domwood/kiwi-kafka https://github.com/domwood/kiwi-kafka
- rkrishn7 2y agoAh, thanks for the link! While Kiwi currently only supports Kafka, I have plans to support more sources in the future. So I would say it's not quite a "Kafka-specific" solution (even though the title emphasizes it).
- below43 2y agoMildly disappointed to see the logo is based on the fruit, and not the bird it was named after. Obligatory link to an image of a cross section of a kiwi (bird): https://myarthaus.com/cdn/shop/products/product-image_3b3efbe3-df12-4033-8ded-90ef65664367_800x.jpg https://myarthaus.com/cdn/shop/products/product-image_3b3efb...
- rkrishn7 2y agoHonestly something I want to change I just didn't find any good free images of a Kiwi (bird) when I added the logo
